Wowser, so much better than the boring stick probe I used in the past
Only used once to date on long (11 hour) cook. Initially ambient temp read out tracked meat internal temp - clearly probe inserted too far despite following the instructions! Once sorted I noted a 30°C discrepancy between the ambient readout and the gauge on my Kamado. I haven’t been able to establish which is correct.
Previous exposure to a competitive brand left me a little disappointed with the signal range, battery life and overall longevity of the product.
The Typhur device offers a significant contrast. The signal range and effectiveness is astounding as demonstrated by use in an enclosed BBQ some distance away (20m). I believe Typhur use short wave radio communications, and whilst gobbledygook to many, it means you'll have a far more reliable signal than that of the more traditional Bluetooth or WiFi signals.
The app is intuitive as well as intelligent by way of notifying you when to remove the meat from the heat source and rest time. In addition, the thermometer probes are slightly bigger at one end, I suspect to enclose a bigger battery than my experience with an alternative. What this means is an impressive operation time that extends into many hours, rather than just a few.
Whilst I cannot speak to the longevity of the item yet, thus far I've really loved using the product and would recommend.
